Elżbieta Altevogt

In 2021 she defended her diploma in painting (MA) at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Zielona Góra (Poland). She has taken part in dozens of collective exhibitions, e.g. in Fabriano in Italy, New Delhi in India, Albi in France and in her native country - Poland, e.g. in the Pryzmat Gallery in Krakow, the Okna Gallery in Lublin, the Gallery of the Glass Heritage Centre in Krosno, the BWA Gallery in Zielona Góra, the Pro Arte Gallery in Zielona Góra. She has had several individual exhibitions, e.g. in the Museum of the Lubuskie Region in Zielona Góra (the most prestigious museum in the Lubuskie Region), the Ethnographic Museum in Zielona Góra, the Lubuskie Military Museum in Zielona Góra.  She is a member of the Association of Polish Artists and Designers.

The artist works in watercolour, oil and acrylic. She is interested in the sphere of nature and man with his existential problems and his rapacity towards the world of other people, animals and plants. She often uses the tree as a narrative element - her symbol of the equality of all beings towards life. In her works, she uses realistic conventions, but she does not avoid abstraction, which for her is a respite from the realism of the world, as in the project "Forest Bathing" (Shinrin-yoku). It is a reaction to the problems of recent years (pandemic, war in Ukraine, death and others). It is made up of objects and abstract watercolours in which she experiments with the medium of watercolour - admiring the work of Gerhard Richter or Zao Wou-Ki - creating her own language of expression and questioning the traditional artistic canon of watercolour painting.

Apart from painting, the artist works with stained glass. She is a member of the Society for Stained Glass Art "Ars Vitrea Polona" based in Krakow (Poland).

Her works are in the Lubuskie voivodeship's Military Museum in Zielona Góra, in the Ethnographic Museum in Zielona Góra - Ochla and private collections in Germany, Switzerland, Canada and Luxembourg.
